Altitude
Grown at 1,200–1,600 meters above sea level in volcanic soil, the cool climate and mineral-rich earth create a smooth, low-acidity profile with notes of dark chocolate, caramel, and floral spice.

Heirloom Varietals
Descended from original Typica/Bourbon seeds brought by the Dutch, these century-old trees yield rare, small-batch beans.

Manual Picking
Farmers selectively harvest ripe cherries by hand, preserving quality—a tradition since the 18th century.

Washed Process
This classic processing method involves removing the fruit from the coffee cherry before drying the beans. It produces a clean, crisp cup with bright acidity and defined flavor notes, making it a favorite among specialty coffee roasters who seek clarity and complexity. Java Preanger’s washed coffees offer a refined balance of sweetness, citrus brightness, and silky mouthfeel—a true representation of high-altitude West Java terroir.

Java Preanger Coffee – Specialty Arabica from West Java

Grown on the lush volcanic slopes of West Java, Java Preanger coffee is more than a bean—it’s a legacy. Dating back to the 1700s, Java was one of the world’s first coffee-producing regions. Today, that heritage lives on in every hand-picked, sun-dried cherry.

Java Preanger Coffee Plantation Field
Mount Malabar
A stratovolcano just south of Bandung rising to about 2,343 m, Mount Malabar is one of the key highland zones for Java Preanger Arabica cultivation known as the Bandoeng Highland variant. Its fertile volcanic soils and elevation (1,200–1,800 m) contribute to balanced coffee with chocolate, almond, and citrus notes, and it has been cultivated since the Dutch colonial era.
Mount Halu
Situated in West Bandung Regency, Mount Halu is another standout for Java Preanger Bandoeng Highland Arabica, grown typically between 1,200–1,600 m elevation. Its coffee is celebrated internationally—earning awards like a Silver Gourmet Award in Paris—and delivers bold earthy flavors with dark chocolate and spicy undertones.
Mount Tangkuban Perahu
This iconic stratovolcano north of Bandung reaches around 2,084 m elevation. It falls under the Soenda Mountain classification for Java Preanger coffee zones. Arabica beans from this area benefit from volcanic soils, high altitude, and unique microclimates, producing clean-bodied coffees with sweet, nutty, and flowery notes and a balanced medium acidity. Recent studies also highlight how microclimate variations around Tangkuban Perahu influence volatile compounds in varieties like Ateng, Sigararutang, and Tim‑Tim.
